USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71)

The Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) departed its homeport in Norfolk VA for an around-the-world deployment on March 11th 2015. The world tour will end with her completing a homeport shift to San Diego CA. TR entered the U.S. Sixth Fleet Area of Operations (AOO) in support of United States national security interests in Europe on March 16th, before dropping anchor in the Solent for a five-day visit to Portsmouth on March 22nd.

CVW-1 carried out 1,812 combat missions totalling 10,618 combat flight hours, taking on 14.5 million gallons of jet fuel and expending 1,085 precision-guided munitions.

TR made port calls to Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP), Jebel Ali Port, Changi Naval Base and Pearl Harbor HI.

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) arrived at her new homeport of San Diego CA, November 23rd 2015, to complete a three carrier hull swap and homeport shift with the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) and USS George Washington (CVN-73).

The Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG) consists of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12, TR, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2 staff.

Theodore Roosevelt, named in honor of the 26th United States President, was commissioned on October 25th 1986 as the fourth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.
