Conversion to Role (CTR)

Dancer, Freeze and Penguin six Apache AH1 s/n ZJ175, ZJ182, ZJ184, ZJ190, ZJ192, ZJ203 from 662 Squadron AAC deployed to Carlisle Airport in Cumbria as part of their Conversion To Role (CTR) training on January 23rd 2006.

654 Squadron AAC arrived with nine Apache AH1 s/n ZJ175, ZJ181, ZJ182, ZJ184, ZJ185, ZJ189, ZJ222, ZJ223, ZJ231 for their CTR on November 12th 2007.

The Apache AH1 attack helicopter can operate in all weathers, day or night and detect, classify and prioritize up to 256 potential targets in less than a minute. It carries a lethal mix of weapons including CRV7 rockets, AGM-114K (Semi-Active Laser) Hellfire II missiles and a 30-mm M230EI Chain Gun ® for when there is a bad guy behind a cement wall, in a car, 2-kilometres away.
