56th Rescue Squadron

The 56th RQS conducts rapidly deployable, worldwide Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR), utilizing five HH-60G helicopters and ten Pararescue (1T2X1) specialists through insertion, extraction and recovery of United States and allied combatants. The squadron provides long-range rescue, humanitarian assistance, non-combatant evacuation, and disaster relief capability for the USEUCOM combatant commander and the Joint Chiefs of Staff in peacetime and across the spectrum of conflict.

The 57th Rescue Squadron (CRO/PJ/SERE) activated at RAF Lakenheath on February 18th 2015.

The 56th RQS and 57th RQS completed a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move to Aviano Air Base, Italy in May 2018.
